Territorial Labs
Trento RISE with its partners offer Territorial Labs that function as experimental testbeds for new technology, products and business models for ICT companies and as a tool to enhance the quality of life of European citizens.
Territorial Labs are territory-wide large facilities making available permanent pools of users, infrastructures, massive territorial data sets, developers, innovators and stakeholders, with the objective to:
- provide experimentation and validation domains to projects;
- provide an effective environment to address user-centred issues, organisational aspects, and ethical issues, business and market-oriented matters;
- make available permanent showcases of the experimented services and solutions, featuring real testimonials of accomplished success stories;
- attract further investment, stimulate the generation of local entrepreneurship, foster experimentation of novel services;
Territorial Labs will simultaneously contribute to the Research, Education and Business Action Lines, namely:
- Research: they provide a unique opportunity to investigate in truly realistic settings user-related issues that are almost invariably only touched upon by traditional approaches: quality of experience, acceptability, adoption, impact on everyday life quality, diversity;
- Education: Territorial Labs are a great source for hands-on experience in service design, deployment and assessment for students enrolled in advanced courses (masters and PhDs) and/or during summer/winter schools on user-related issues, service design, business prospect evaluation, etc.
- Business: they speed up the transition from service design and development to the market, allowing for market tests, comparison among alternative business models and market approaches, and assessment of the impact of the proposed solutions on, e.g., welfare costs and organizational aspects.
